I do two kinds of art. One is for the pleasure of creating and the other is strictly intuitive and involves the soul. The art for the pleasure of creating is for the public to see and if they wish to purchase, great. Not to say that a piece of me isn’t in this art, it is. I create Nature art and sometimes it’s a teaching tool to educate others. In July I will be part of a Nature Journal Show at the Art Center gallery here. It’s purely educational. I’m a Master Naturalist and to me educating people about Nature is my way of encouraging people to get out and be in Nature, hopefully teaching them to love it. People want to protect what they love.

My intuitive art involves the soul. This is art that others rarely to never see. It’s a personal part of me that like you has meaning only to me. Sometimes I’m not sure of it’s exact meaning. What is it telling me? These are the pieces that when I go back to look at them at a later time reveal their message to me. The proverbial light bulb turns on! That Aha Moment! These are created by my hands but are driven by Spirit. Both types of art tend to be healing in nature.

I can’t really pinpoint only one reason why I make art. It’s a combination of self expression, fun/stress relief, and spirituality. For the most part, I write to deliver meaningful messages and universal truths about the human condition. I want people to read my stories and feel moved or transformed. I had terrible writers block for years because I was putting pressure on myself to write something that would be popular. As a result, I lost my creative desire because the subject matter didn’t mean anything to me. What I’ve come to understand is that art has a soul if it’s created from a spiritual calling. They have a certain heart that can be felt by whoever sees or reads it. That’s the kind of art I admire, and the kind of art I want to create for others 😊

I think it's so important that you mentioned that creative blocks can happen when we don't create from a place of deep meaning. I also love the idea that "art has a soul". This takes us to the idea that at some point what you are creating becomes something separate and apart from its creator. I think this is part of what allows a work of art to speak directly to the reader, viewer, listener.

The universe is guiding me to portals at the moment… your posts about the mooncircles, and collages is so inspiring and synchronistic.

The appearance of portals in your awareness is very inspiring and interesting. As a symbol and an energy I always find portals to be a signal that change is about to occur. What do they mean to you?

Since I am older I keep thinking I should re-read myself.

How fascinating to describe it as re-reading yourself. I know that I have favorite books that I have read many times over and what they meant to me and what I got from them at 20 is vastly different than what I get from them now, decades later. I suspect it is the same with ourselves.

I am learning that my poetic expression is both a translation of guidance that is inviting me to dance with my learnings AND a pathway of integration with those learnings. As I move with curiosities and weavings that draw me IN, I attune to the medicine of the vibration. This process nourishes me deeply, heals me, inspires me, and connects me to source energy. I resonate with your idea about art being holy - a prayer - a devotional ritual.

I love that your art has invited you to dance the dance of learning and integration. The vibration is the medicine when we tune in to it. I think that’s a brilliant insight.

Whatever we do with great love has great power. My art has brought to me incredible gratitude for All that is.

That’s so good to hear. Art does have the power to expand our perspective and invite deep gratitude into our hearts.

The war of art! I couldn't agree more- art leads to gnosis, and allows us to be present with others as we deal with our demons through the creative process
