Thanks Nika, it was a busy day but today there will be time for reflection. Mother Nature’s rhythms are slower, kinder and more expansive than our machine driven worlds, so I know I have plenty of time for finding silence in the solstice.
A group of friends and neighbors gathered to witness the departing sun on this longest night of the year, and it was a remarkable show. A trio of us women collected ourselves into a huddle to smudge and remind ourselves to breathe and take it all in. Thank you, Jan, for always being an open and willing teacher. Bright Solstice to you!
Such a fascinating post! I plan to celebrate the solstice by watching the sun rise tomorrow. Tonight, I will light some candles and make an orange slice garland to hang across the window. I have noticed the past few days how low the sun is in the sky during the afternoon. This is the first year I have lived so far north, and the sun was setting around 3:50 pm. But the past few days it has increased to 3:52, so I think the solstice already happened here according to Mother Earth 😄 I am looking forward to longer days. Autumn was very difficult for me -- physically and emotionally. I think I had strayed into those supranatural realms you talked about, and this added to my fear and depression. I have since come out of it with a much stronger spirituality, which I am grateful for. Happy Solstice and Merry Christmas! Thank you for a wonderful year of enlightening entries! ✨🌞✨
Hi Daisy Anne, I'm sorry to hear about your difficult autumn, but welcome to the returning light! The orange slice garland sounds wonderful I love those kinds of rustic and homey decorations. Light your candle in the dark and feel the turning of the year, so much solstice goodness to lean into as we celebrate the season.
Thank you Jan for your words and your presence! Wishing you a wonderful Winter Solstice 🌞
