I am discovering your article with perfect timing as I find myself needing to examine, again, my relationship with my over protective mother, learning how to disentangle from her at the age of 43. But this deepens awareness that I am also battling with an inner over protective mother who is preventing me from living life. Thankyou

Having been a single mom who raised , who is now, a young man, this resonates with me. When I was young with him, I was often tired (maybe even exhausted ;0 ). I recall wishing time would just speed up and get me through to the point where I could rest and not have to feed, change diapers, make food, clean up vomit and be up all night soothing him only to have to somehow muster the energy to do it all again, alone, the next day. Now that my son is in college, I suffer some guilt for having wished time to go quickly, then, ‘cause guess what? I think we all know the answer. I now find myself often pining for those times, poop, illness and all. I even feel remorse at not having done all of it “better.” And yet, I know I did the best I could. I had a recurring dream the other night. It’s where a kitty I love so dearly is lost and I can’t find her. The feeling of “oh there she is!” waxes and wanes in the dream; however the setting is angst, and I never locate kitty.

Thanks so much Jan. I have learned to live with grief over the past 13 years and learned to process my growth as Woman. Blessings.

This was exactly what I needed to read this morning, wow. One of the best analyses I've read on Demeter/Persephone. I relate to just all of it!
